Title: Second Saturday– Botanical Bubbles
Start Time: 09:00 AM
Date: 2011-06-11
End Time: 12:00 PM
Imagine a time before soap was readily available. How did humans clean their hair, skin, or eating utensils without soap? If you have ever gone camping, you might have cleaned your dishes by scouring them with sand and rinsing them in a nearby stream. But most of us are used to having shampoo, dishwashing liquid, bar soap, and other soap products available whenever we need them. But how was soap invented? And what products are added to soap to make it look pretty and smell so nice?
Participants in this workshop will experiment by adding fragrance, dye, and botanical objects like flowers, seeds, and stems to their handmade soaps.
Children ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $5 for children and member adults and $8 for nonmember adults.
Reservations required. Please call 692-2874 for your bubble at the squeaky clean workshop!
